Marc McPherson & Nickolas Burson
Both Ellensburg police officers, these two met in 2009 and became fast friends, always challenging and supporting each other in all manners of adventures.
In 2017 Nick & Marc made headlines with their “Mountain Marathon” by summitting the 5 highest Washington volcanoes in 5 days.
On their (very rare) time off from work and family, they do many overnight summits, usually leaving in the early morning hours on Saturday and returning Sunday evening.
In 2022, the pair ran the Wy’East Wonder 50 mile marathon. Immediately after, then signed up for the 100 mile run in Bend Oregon.*
As of August 1, 2023, #TeamMarkolas has successfully completed Mountain Marathon 2 (MM2)!
The duo climbed 12 volcanoes over 10,000 feet in the Cascade Mountain Range from California to Washington. As if that isn’t enough, they summitted all 12 in 10 days! Front door to front door, their trip took 10 days and 23 hours.
Though strapped for time between work and family, the two can be found running up the side of a mountain. They typically take off in the early morning on Saturday and return home Sunday evening, right on time for dinner with the family.
Dubbed #TeamMarkolas by their wives, Marc & Nick graciously adopted the moniker. You can find more of their amazing pictures on Instagram using the hashtag #TeamMarkolas.
